Manwar Khan is a dedicated community advocate who has been actively working to combat violence and bullying since a life-changing incident in December 2012 when he intervened to stop a deadly attack on a fellow passenger on an Edmonton LRT train. Inspired by this experience, Manwar initiated a grassroots movement called ‘DO NOT BE A BYSTANDER’ in the province. This movement aims to raise awareness about bullying and encourages individuals not to stand idly by in the face of such incidents. For decades, Manwar has dedicated his life to combating bullying and raising awareness across the province, empowering children, vulnerable individuals, and victims of violence. His relentless efforts have taken him to numerous cities within the province, where he organizes rallies and empowers victims of bullying. Additionally, he visits schools and daycares to engage in conversations about standing up against bullying.

His tireless work in this field has garnered significant recognition, as evidenced by the numerous prestigious awards he has received. The Alberta Inspiration Award, bestowed by the Ministry of Community and Social Service, and the Alberta Community Justice Award, presented by the Ministry of Justice, are among the notable honors he has received. In 2014, during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Governor General of Canada David Johnston presented him with the esteemed Caring Canadian Award; one of the highest honors in the country.

More recently, his initiative, the In Conversation with MANWAR KHAN Podcast has gained immense public support and media attention. This podcast serves as a platform to educate and empower children in their fight against bullying. In addition to his activism, this Alberta-based advocate is also a devoted father of twins, a loving husband, and a caring son. Alongside his personal commitments, he has been working as an employee of the Government of Alberta for 16 years.
