Director of Programs
The Director of Programs plays a critical role in ensuring the success of Canadians For A Civil Society’s mission by leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality programs that effectively address community needs. This position requires a dynamic and results-oriented individual with strong leadership, strategic planning, and program management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the board on industry trends and strategic challenges relating to the organization’s mission and assess community needs.
- Develop and implement programs that meet community needs and achieve desired outcomes.
- Identify and track key performance indicators to measure program success.
- Plan strategies to increase awareness and participation in programs.
- Oversee both new program development and the evaluation of existing programs.
- Facilitate discussions about program priorities for the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and analyze data through key performance indicators.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with grant writing and fundraising is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.

Director of Finance (Treasurer)
The Director of Finance (Treasurer) plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and stability of Canadians For A Civil Society. This position requires a highly skilled financial professional with strong accounting, analytical, and leadership skills, who will provide sound financial guidance to the Board and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Oversee accounting, financial reporting, record-keeping, cash flow, and prepare monthly financial reports for the Board.
- Budgeting and Planning: Assist in developing the annual budget, monitor performance, and aid in long-term financial planning and fundraising strategies.
- Financial Controls: Implement robust internal financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.
- Fundraising Support: Provide financial guidance for fundraising activities and assist with grant proposals.
- Board Governance: Advise the Board on financial matters and participate in decision-making processes.
- Assist with audit preparations and maintain professional relationships with auditors and bankers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of non-profit financial principles and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Director of Advocacy
The Director of Advocacy provides visionary leadership for Canadians For A Civil Society, ensuring the organization effectively champions a more just and equitable society. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a deep understanding of Canadian social and political issues and strong advocacy experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for advocacy efforts.
- Formulate and oversee policies and procedures, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate and monitor programs and services, and ensure active participation in Board meetings.
- Oversee governance and management processes to support organizational development.
- Submit semi-annual reports on advocacy activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field is preferred, or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of successful advocacy campaigns and policy wins.
- Strong understanding of Canadian political and social issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.

Director of Communications & Marketing
The Director of Communications & Marketing is a key member of our leadership team, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that elevates the organization’s public profile, strengthens its brand, and supports its mission. This role demands a strategic thinker with excellent communication and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare priorities for board composition and meet with prospective board members.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new board members and organize training sessions for the entire board.
- Suggest new, non-board individuals for committee membership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful communications strategies.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with social media management and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, and Trello.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Director of Board Development
The Director of Board Development is vital to the long-term success of Canadians For A Civil Society by building a strong, engaged, and diverse Board of Directors. This role requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare priorities for board composition and meet with prospective board members.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new board members and organize training for the board.
- Recommend new, non-board individuals for committee membership.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in board development, recruitment, or a related field within a non-profit organization.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Familiarity with board governance best practices and legal considerations.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a relevant field is preferred.
