FIRST PUBLIC SCREENING OF INDIA’S DAUGHTER

SUMMARY

To mark the UN International Day of the Girl Child, Canadians for a Civil Society partnered with the Indo-Canadian Women’s Association. We organized the first public screening of Leslee Udwin’s film, India’s Daughter, in Alberta on October 15, 2015, at the Art Gallery of Alberta.

The documentary pays tribute to the remarkable short life of Jyoti Singh Pandey and documents the brutality of her gang-rape and murder in Delhi, India, in December 2012.

The screening was followed by a Q & A with Leslie Udwin via Skype and a stimulating panel discussion that shed light on the issues of gender violence in Edmonton.
